Faculty Development Work
01
Faculty Onboarding & Mentorship Programs
Faculty Program Engagement via:
-
Department and resource awareness
-
Teaching and Learning support
-
Engage faculty and community
-
Faculty matched mentor-mentee relationships
-
Network building
-
Culture and success opportunities
02
The Center for Faculty Development & Excellence (CFDE)
I have designed and built the Center for Faculty Development & Excellence (CFDE) which laid the foundation for teaching and learning via:
-
SharePoint website for faculty to access all the teaching and learning resources and see upcoming events and training
-
Workshops and hands-on training opportunities to help faculty grow in their pedagogical knowledge and development
-
Hired and supervised an Instructional Designer and an Educational Technology Support Specialist to build this center and provide needed support to faculty at a large scale
03
Faculty Development Programs
Designed, developed, and implemented a variety of faculty development programs on the following topics and areas:
-
Teaching with Technology (LMS)
-
Humanizing Digital Pedagogy
-
E-Learning
-
Learning Analytics
-
Accessibility
-
Instructional Design
After implementation, I have tracked outcomes achievement for faculty through evaluation via surveys, focus groups, 1:1, discussions, and emails to measure the impact of these programs on faculty pedagogical knowledge and professional development and its application to their own classes.
04
Faculty Showcase Series
Faculty learn from their fellow faculty colleagues. One of my innovative faculty development strategies is to have a faculty showcase series once a year. During this time, champion faculty from faculty development programs implemented in previous terms present their work and communicate how it helped in creating effective student learning experiences.
05
Faculty Development Programming
Not all problems need training solutions. I always perform a needs analysis before jumping to implement any faculty training. I do NOT solely rely on surveys or department chairs but connect directly with faculty during meetings and carefully observe them during their teaching. I have provided some sample programming based on the needs analysis of every institution. Every institute has its own needs. I always aim to build a culture of empathy and implement the Design Thinking Model for faculty development programming.
06
Organizational Development & Change
I have provided professional guidance and advice to educational leaders to set up infrastructure for online program management and instructional design operations. I have helped the leaders identify labor gaps in their organizational infrastructure and create and hired for new positions. I have created and hired for positions like Instructional Designer, Educational Technology Support Specialist, and Multimedia Development Specialist.
08
Teacher Portfolio Project/Faculty Portfolio Project
A teacher portfolio can help faculty reflect on their own teaching and thus improve their teaching practices. It is very important to merge the design and planning with tenure and promotion procedures at a university. Building a teacher portfolio can be invaluable for faculty professional development. I am currently implementing this plan.
09
Innovative Faculty Development Strategies
Throughout my career in faculty development, I have learned and applied innovative and evidence-based strategies in this field. Please see the PowerPoint Presentation where I have compiled these techniques to share here.
07
Design Research Project
I have designed a mobile application prototype with a training solution using Design Research Methodology for faculty effective LMS usage. I used the Mishra and Koehler TPACK model as the basis for this design. This approach helps faculty not just be trained in technology, but pedagogy that fits their discipline.
